Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir: “The court that freed the despicable terrorist who shot and seriously wounded a Jew in the city of David from prison to a closed rehabilitation center and the prosecutor’s office made a serious mistake. It is impossible for a terrorist who set out to kill Jews and his malicious plan failed, to receive rehabilitation with trips, education classes and a host of other things. He could have been sent to a closed residence with a closed wing (Gilaam). That’s how you don’t build deterrence, that’s how we weaken Israel and harm our governance. Terrorists need to die and this morning we submitted the death penalty bill for terrorists to fight terrorism.”
The attorney’s office responded: “We would like to clarify that according to the law in the State of Israel, a minor under the age of 14 cannot be detained behind bars after filing an indictment, therefore the criticism of the attorney’s office in this regard is unfounded.”
