Turkish imam kisses the hand of a dog that saved three people in an earthquake – the circulating picture is edited… – FactCrescendo

by time news

Many people are still sharing pictures and videos on social media related to the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. A picture of an Imam allegedly kissing a dog’s leg has gone viral recently.

Propaganda

A picture of a man dressed in Islamic clothing kissing a dog’s front leg in front of a crowd is circulating. Accompanying English text: “Turkish Imam kissing the hand of a dog who saved three people during the Turkey earthquake.

The Quran says in Al-Kahf (the Cave) verses 9-26:

“And they remained in their cave for three hundred years and exceeded by nine.” It highlights the importance of the special dog as their companion who sat guarding the entrance of the cave.” The translation reads: “Turkish imam kisses the hand of a dog that saved three people in an earthquake in Turkey.

The Qur’an al-Kahf (The Cave) says in verses 9-26:

“They lived in their cave for three hundred years, nine years.” This highlights the importance of the special dog as their companion, standing guard at the entrance to the cave.”

But upon investigation we found that this image is years old and not related to the Turkey earthquake.

This is the fact

A Facebook post in Polish was found on May 27, 2016, when the reverse image of the video key frames was searched.

It has a picture of a Christian priest kissing the hand of the same dog. The translation reads: “Thomas Jeschke was an Austrian priest and an ardent animalist. Priest Bowing to a Dog in San Francisco on Assisi Day”.

Further searching using this clue we found the same image in an online Polish media article dated October 27, 2011.

According to the content of the article, Tomasz Jeszke, a former priest in Poland, hugs a golden retriever. Thomas Jeschke is an Austrian priest and ardent animal lover who began a personal crusade to educate the church about the rights and conditions of animals. His movement is known as “Quo Vadis Vaticana”.

The same image has been digitally edited and altered and circulated on social media with false claims. The film is more than a decade old and has been edited to remove the image of the Christian priest and replace it with an ‘Imam’. It is clear that the film, which has been circulating since 2011, has nothing to do with the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

Another article published in 2012 about the said Christian priest’s movement for animal welfare also featured a picture of the priest kissing a dog’s front leg.

Below is a comparison of the two images.

Conclusion

The image in the post is edited. To educate the congregation about the rights and conditions of animals, Polish ex-priest Tomas Jeszke has been circulating since 2011 a picture of a dog kissing a dog’s front leg after editing and changing the priest and adding a picture of the imam. The film has nothing to do with the recent Turkey-Syria earthquake.
