A sudden landslide at a coal mine in Beijing, China, killed five workers yesterday; 1,000 people were trapped in the rubble.

Our neighbor China has a coal mine in Mongolia. Here, the day before yesterday, workers were engaged in work. Then, due to a sudden landslide, the mine was closed.

In this, five workers were trapped inside the mine and died; 48 people are missing. Also, six workers who were rescued with injuries were sent to hospital.

Rescuers have been called in from nearby areas and the work of rescuing those trapped inside the mine is progressing rapidly, China News Agency reported.

Despite the strengthening of mine safety measures, mining accidents have continued to occur in China recently. In the last year alone, a total of 51 people have lost their lives in mining accidents.
