Police arrest about 407 people during street blocks in Rio – News

The Military Police ended the Carnival period with more than 407 people arrested and about 190 objects used to commit crimes seized, in the center of the city of Rio. SEPM (Military Police State Secretariat) teams approached revelers at the main access roads.

The apprehensions took place between last Friday (17) and the morning of this Wednesday (22).
The agents set up around 24 blocking points and searches using metal detectors in the places where the main presentations of the mega-blocs in the region took place.

In total, more than 461 people were taken to police stations throughout Rio de Janeiro, with 43 of them having outstanding arrest warrants. Another 54 teenagers were apprehended.

In addition, 60 weapons were seized, including five rifles, 32 pistols, 19 revolvers, 11 grenades and 04 shotguns.

According to information, teams from the Maria da Penha Patrol were present to raise the awareness of revelers by contributing to the campaign “Não é Não! Respect the decision”.
