Evangelical President? Poll gives advantage to Michelle Bolsonaro

by time news

The year 2026, when the next presidential election will take place, is still a long way off, but not for those dealing with the current Brazilian political context, where among the main names are the former first lady of Brazil, Michelle Bolsonaro.

With several ongoing investigations against former president Jair Messias Bolsonaro, which means the possibility that he will be ineligible if he is convicted in any of them, Michelle’s name has come to be considered for a possible presidential race.

With that in mind, broadcaster Jovem Pan decided to conduct a poll to assess the public’s opinion on the possibility of the former first lady running as a candidate for the Brazilian government in 2026. The result?

With almost 2 thousand votes until the closing of this article, 68.4% said “YES”, while 31.6% said “NO”. As can be seen, therefore, Michelle Bolsonaro seems to have popular support to run for office in 2026. However, she has already spoken about it.

“Opposition, rest assured: I have no intention of running for any elected office,” said Michelle a few days ago, after the increase in rumors involving her name.

Leadership

Known for being a fervent evangelical, the former first lady assumed the national presidency of the female portfolio of the Liberal Party (PL), which is an important position of leadership and prominence.

This means that, in practice, Michelle Bolsonaro may now be saying that she does not intend to run in 2026, but that work to expand support for her last name and the Brazilian right is already being done.

When commenting on the rumors involving the name of the former first lady, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro acknowledged that it is still too early to nail anything, but that, without a doubt, Michelle will have full conditions to enter the game.

“There’s a lot to happen in four years. Michelle has political capital, a vocation, but I don’t know if she has the will. I think it’s good for her name to be on the wheel. It brings Bolsonaro’s name together,” he said, according to Valor.
