Yesterday morning, Palamurugan, vice-chairman of Pallipalayam Municipality, went for a walk on the Cauvery river bridge. At that time, he was shocked to see that the dye effluent discharged from the dye mills mixed with the river in a rose color. He immediately contacted the Kumarapalayam pollution control officials on his mobile phone to complain about it. However, the authorities did not accept the call.
Deputy Chairman Balamurugan said: Yesterday morning, dye sewage mixed in the river. I contacted the Kumarapalayam pollution control authorities several times over the phone to complain about this. The authorities did not take it. Do not contact me by looking at the number.
Officials are not taking any action in this matter. Even if you call to complain about the dye effluent, they show indifference by not accepting the call. I am going to report this to the higher authorities.
