The ‘Prisma’ investigation, which cost Juventus heavy penalties, including a 15-point deduction, has already begun to pursue factors no longer related to the old lady, including one of the most respected players who played in the city of Turin over the past few years – Paulo Dybala.
In Italy, it is reported that due to illegal salary maneuvers made by the club, the 29-year-old Argentinian, who currently plays for Roma, may receive a sporting disqualification for no less than a month. The reason? A private agreement signed between the footballer and Juventus somewhere during the Corona period, and estimated at more than three million euros.
As part of the ‘Prisma’ investigation, regarding the affair of the false reports of the financial statements in 2020, the Financial Watch questioned the Argentinian this week about his last period in the Bianconeri uniform, when the main interest focused on the amount of three million euros that the investigators wanted to confirm if he was paid and, if so, in what format.
But we have to go back to the beginning. In 2020, the old lady reached an agreement with the players according to which they would give up four months of their salary, in order not to harm the club’s budget during the corona epidemic. Nevertheless, after a few months, the prosecutor’s office began to investigate this agreement, since it is not a waiver of salary, as the Italian club initially reported, but a delay in payment for three of the four months, an illegal thing that means additional savings in the Juventus budget.
But how could Dybala find himself off the field because of a financial matter? According to a section of the sports justice code used in Italy, it is forbidden for clubs to agree to pay compensation that violates what is written in the law, but it also prohibits players from agreeing to their payment, which if they do will result in a disqualification of no less than a whole month. The player is suspected of helping the club cheat the tax authorities.
Despite the unusual threat to a former Juve player, it is still too early to know whether the Argentine is going to sit in the stands of the Olimpico for about a month, but apparently the demons from the past in Turin are not only causing problems for the old lady, but also for ‘La Joya’, who is recording a good season overall with 12 goals and six assists in 25 appearances – and these days he is being investigated.
