What is Inverter AC? Will it reduce the electricity bill!| What is Inverter AC? It will reduce the electricity bill!

by time news

The sun has already begun to burn. The Meteorological Center has also announced that the winter season is over and gradually the sun will rise again. Many will rush to buy AC. Currently, inverter AC is the most popular in the market. What is Inverter AC? Doubts arise as to whether the inverter can operate during a power cut. Let’s see the explanation.

The heart of AC

The compressor is the main reason for AC cooling and supplying air. This is called the cardiac region of the AC. At the top of this compressor is the motor. A lower section compressing rotor is attached. When the motor rotates, the rotor compresses the air and sends it to the room for cooling.

Older AC model

In older model ACs, this compressor motor is an AC motor. The motor will run at full capacity until it reaches the room temperature we set. For example if it is set to 24°C. Until then the motor is running at full capacity. After that it stops. Then if the temperature rises to 25, it will run again.

These motors have high inrush current. i.e. starting power. More torque is required each time it stops and starts again. This will draw more amperes of electricity.

constant temperature

As the compressor motor stops and starts running again, the temperature decreases and increases. Alternatively, if the speed of the compressor motor can be controlled, the room temperature will remain constant. If kept at 24 degrees Celsius, it will stay there until the AC is turned off.

The best way to control the speed of a motor is to change its frequency. This is called VFT (Variable Frequency Drive). This method is used in modern AC devices.

This is where an inverter is needed

Did we see the need for VFT to increase or decrease the motor speed? VFT requires an inverter device. The compressors of newer refrigerators have a DC motor. AC current is coming from EB. This will be converted to DC by the converter. It is possible to increase or decrease the speed of the motor by changing the frequency of the electricity. This is where the inverter does the work. It is a small appliance in the refrigerator.

This inverter has switches. With the power supply they are cycled on and off to rotate the compressor motor. Their speed varies according to the frequency we give them.

These inverter switches are transistor switches called IGBT. It is expensive. If there is a small fault in the switching of the inverter switches, these IGBT switches will trip. This is why AC mechanics recommend buying a normal AC. But normal AC is now rare in the market.

Houses with good, quality wiring. If the outdoor units can be placed in a place where birds and squirrels cannot roost, the inverter AC will run without problems and without incurring costs.

Will it save electricity?

Syed Imran, who posts useful videos on electrical appliances on the EngineeringBacts YouTube channel, ran both types of ACs at 28 degrees Celsius for 12 hours and measured the power. Both types of ACs draw almost 7 units of electricity. Accordingly, inverter AC does not reduce the electricity bill in any way.
