José Ruales, Minister of Public Health, carried out his work day in the territory on February 24, 2023. He visited the Pablo Arturo Suárez Hospital (HPAS), located in the north of Quito, to evaluate the structural reinforcement works of the area building Outpatient consultation and emergencies.
These services were transferred to the old hospitalization building to guarantee the safety and integrity of the users. During the tour, the quality of care in these areas, which were temporarily conditioned while the work lasts, was verified. The intervention will start from March 2023 with a duration of 12 months for delivery.
It is important to highlight that no specialty of this health home has been closed, nor has the number of offices available for care been reduced.
Ruales, together with his technical team, also verified the supply of medicines and the respective cold chain of those that require this process for their conservation.
To finish his visit to the HPAS, the Minister verified the operation of recently acquired equipment such as endoscopy towers, anesthesia machines and a laminar flow chamber for the laboratory. Currently, the clinical laboratory has immunological chemistry equipment and ISE equipment, Cobas c503 and Cobas se801.
Later, his tour continued at the Type C Cotocollao Health Center. Ruales spoke with health professionals and received the progress report on child vaccination coverage. In the same way, she toured the laboratory and outpatient service where she was able to talk with patients to find out their needs. Together with the authorities of this first-level establishment, logistics issues were addressed for the timely delivery and distribution of medicines.
The minister’s day ended at the Isidro Ayora Gynecology and Obstetric Hospital, where he verified the care and services available to the population.
The National Government, through this State portfolio, prioritizes the population’s access to comprehensive and quality services. In addition, it confirms its commitment to promote efficient and transparent management in all health establishments nationwide.
