A ghost town of empty houses after the rains – 02/24/2023 – Brazil

by time news

Those who arrive by boat at Barra do Sahy beach, in São Sebastião, can see the large houses on top of the two hills that surround the small bay.

In normal times, the cliff-edge mansions would already command attention, but the scenery became more impressive after extreme rains triggered landslides along São Paulo’s north coast.

With some of the land below the houses having collapsed, some properties seem to defy gravity, while others have disappeared down the slope.

Sheet climbed to the top of one of the hills. Fabinho hill is located on the right side of the beach, seen from the sea. There, there are around 20 mansions on the hill. Deserted, muddy and looking as if they’ve been hastily evacuated, they offer the semblance of a ghost town.

They are properties with more than 300 square meters, with three or more suites and an average value of R$2 million, if they are located in the highest part and the price jumps to R$4 million the closer to the sand.
