Amit Segal blasts the corporation: “propaganda arm”

by time news

In the shadow of the demonstrations against the legal reform of Yariv Levin and Simcha Rothman, the secondary storm is the storm of the Public Broadcasting Corporation. The Minister of Communications, Shlomo Karai, does not hide his intentions, but for the time being his reform to privatize the corporation is not moving into practical steps, a fact that does not prevent Amit Segal from referring to it.

“Just a perfect useful idiot from the right”

In a tweet on Twitter, Segal attached a screenshot from a report by Dov Gilhar, a messenger here in Europe, with the caption “Democracy. End” appearing on the screen, part of a series of articles broadcast by Gilhar about the deterioration of democracy in Poland and Hungary.

The knitted journalist attacked and wrote: “Only a perfect useful idiot from the right will continue to fight for the existence of a corporation that violates the law and is used as a propaganda arm at the expense of the public”, alluding to certain personalities who work against the closure or privatization of the corporation.

Let’s recall that last week the Minister of Communications sent a letter to the heads of the corporation in which he wrote that they were breaking the law, and among other things he mentioned the article that Segal referred to. Karai wrote that the Public Broadcasting Corporation violates the provisions of the Public Broadcasting Law in the way it covers the legal reform. In the letter, Karai presented a number of examples from the contents of the corporation.

“A trending propaganda article that claims to compare the legal reform promoted by the Knesset with what is being done in Poland and Hungary”

Regarding Gilhar’s article, which Segal referred to, Karai wrote that she “wrote a trending propaganda article that claims to compare the legal reform promoted by the Knesset with what is being done in Poland and Hungary. The articles exaggerated and connected the legal reform and the policy of public broadcasting, in a way that puts them in serious conflict of interest “.
