At the last moment – the Haifa police withdrew. This morning (Sunday) she brought her detainees from Sami Ofer and asked to extend the detention of the suspects in the violent fight and other crimes by 5 days, and at the hearing she turned her request into a request for release. The police were also criticized by Judge Ahsan Halavi who repeatedly mentioned that in several previous decisions he also stated that it is true that the police will act in accordance with the powers given to them according to the Law Prohibiting Violence in Sports. He did not accede to the police’s request to keep the suspects away from sports fields for a year and accepted the position of the defense attorney Rima – Mazoui Soso and the Public Defender’s Office through Attorney Yitzhak Cohen, released all the detainees and kept them away for two months only. Meanwhile, the defense attorney complained that the detainees did not receive food, drink or medical treatment.

Judge Halavi released Or Cohen, 20 years old from Carmel, who was caught by a policeman when he was allegedly holding a stick in his hand; Guy Avraham Azoulai who was caught by a policeman when he was allegedly holding an iron; Shlomi Nathaniel Yedin, 26 years old, from Kiryat Ata, who was caught by a policeman when, according to the suspicion, he was holding a large stone in his hand that he intended to throw at a motorcyclist; Or Adri, 20, from Rehovot, who, according to the police’s suspicion, is a Beitar Jerusalem fan who last night pinched a car that he parked during the game in the Neot Peres neighborhood adjacent to the Sami Ofer Stadium; Omar Bublil, 18, from Bat Yam, who is suspected of bringing a prohibited object into the stadium; and Afek Haim Peretz, 20, who lives next door to the stadium and who was already expelled in a previous decision but is suspected of having violated the court’s decision. He was released on his own bail.

Lawyer Rima Mazoui Soso told Walla! Sport in response: “I am glad that the court gave a decision that fits the intention of the legislator. I think that, compared to other cases, the Haifa police actually specified the offenses, but considering this, they should have understood that they did not have the authority to request the extension of their detention, and the police would do well in the future if they learned my words The court repeated this six times today.” She further added, “In my opinion, there is no proper enforcement. The police themselves do not enforce the law among football field fans. Time and time again, they arrest and detain fans illegally and exceed their powers, as they did later in court with requests for disproportionate removals.”

The Israel Police stated: “The Israel Police was prepared for the game as for any event, hundreds of police officers and ushers were deployed inside and outside the stadium, along with placing dozens of cameras that recorded what was happening in order to maintain public order and the safety of the fans and with the aim of ensuring the proper existence of the game. Even before the game started and during it they were detained and arrested 20 fans who were suspected of possessing means of attack and violating public order, while some of them were even removed from the fields at the end of a hearing held for them. The Israel Police will continue to act resolutely against manifestations of violence in the fields in order to allow the fans a sports experience free of violence and to prosecute those who improved it.”
