Channel: nearly a ton of cocaine found on a beach

by time news

It was a simple Sunday stroll along the beach in the town of Réville at the top of the Cotentin. Instead of shells, a local resident came face to face with several dozen bags of materials washed up on Dranguet beach, reports Ouest-France.

Inside, some rubble with, in the center, watertight packages with white powder. Warned by the Sunday walker, the local gendarmes quickly intervened in the area. The constabulary then sent the sachets of white powder to a laboratory for analysis. The result confirmed that the product was indeed cocaine. The count made by the gendarmes made it possible to recover nearly a ton of cocaine.

This kind of amazing discovery is becoming more and more common. Several loaves of cocaine, for a total weight of around 21 kg, were discovered last year on the beach at Berck (Pas-de-Calais), near Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, according to the prosecution. “They were discovered by a walker” who immediately alerted the police, told our colleagues the deputy prosecutor of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Patrick Leleu.

“The most likely hypothesis is that they would come from a boat, rather from the open sea than from land”, explained Patrick Leleu at the time, while the prosecution had seized the judicial police for the investigation.
