Hyundai prepares a new subcompact SUV in South Korea to operate in the Indian market, being a derivative of the Hyundai Casper, created to serve the local market.
Already seen in a parking lot, the new car was recently spotted on the streets of the Asian country, equally camouflaged, however, revealing more details of the look.
At the front, highlight for the LED daytime running lights in an “H” format, with conventional direction repeaters behind the DRL’s.
The compact headlights are positioned below and do not have light emitting diodes, having a wide grille, but with only the central part open.
The lower part is larger in opening for cooling, while the front still has a wraparound hood.
In the new car, the roof arch is wide and the glass area is large, with wide rear doors and wide C-pillars.
The taillights are compact and resemble the proposal of the Hyundai Venue, but you cannot see the exact size of the trunk lid.
There are still no more concrete data about the new subcompact SUV, but the suspicion is that it will be between 4.70 m and 4.90 m long.
Within the size limit of the Indian market, Hyundai’s new car will meet the requirements that will give it tax incentives with lower taxes in India.
This proposal will be an opportunity for Hyundai to compete in an SUV segment below the size limit, where the Venue operates with its cousin Kia Sonet.
The mechanics will be based on the Kappa engine, with the 1.2 liter being the natural option for the Indian market with 80 horsepower, followed by the 1.0 TGDI of 100 horsepower.
A 1.5 turbo diesel option should also be offered for the Indian market.
With manual or semi-automatic transmission, Hyundai’s SUV may also win the Indonesian market, where the Korean brand is also growing.
Outside Southeast Asia, the performance of the new product is not expected.
