The singers Hanan Yuval and Kobi Peretz stood on both sides of the barricade of political turmoil in the last two days. It all started yesterday, when Yuval announced that he refused the offer to appear at the IDF Memorial Day ceremony in the Knesset, as a protest against the conduct of several members of the Knesset in the coalition.
Today Minister Dodi Amsalam attacked Yuval, asking in a tweet “who is this” and even suggested that Kobi Peretz would appear in his place. Peretz, who was caught in the eye of the storm unwillingly, reacted himself and expressed his protest over the fact that he was never invited to perform at a state ceremony, although he added that he loves and appreciates Hanan Yuval.
Indeed, a light dive into the archive reveals that Yuval and Peretz collaborated in the past. It happened in 2003, when the first channel produced a tribute show to Jubilee, with the participation of many artists, including Peretz who was at the beginning of his career. The two sang together Hanan Yuval’s well-known song, “And if this song sounds familiar to you.”
