SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) – Determined to put Brazil back in a scenario of world prominence, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) designed an agenda with practically one international trip per month.

The highlight should be the trip to Japan on May 18 and 19, to participate in the G7 summit, which takes place in Hiroshima.

The invitation still needs to be formalized, but participation in the meeting of the group that brings together the world’s greatest powers is a sign of global prestige. Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) did not go once during his term and even exchanged public barbs with French President Emmanuel Macron, who is part of the collegiate.

The PT’s next stop will be in China in March, where Lula intends to deepen the dialogue for the construction of a “peace club” to negotiate the end of the war in Ukraine.

In April, he goes to Portugal, the first European country in his new administration. He will have an extensive agenda that even foresees a speech in Parliament. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, was in Brazil this Thursday (23rd) advancing the details of the trip.

In July, he should go to the summit of the CPLP (Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries) and tour Africa; in August, he should go to South Africa.

In September, Lula returns to the UN General Assembly to deliver the opening speech, a prerogative given to Brazil. In October, there should be a meeting of the G20 presidents in India and, in November, the president should participate in the COP, in the United Arab Emirates, even to reinforce the Brazilian candidacy to host the summit in 2025.

The script was scrutinized following a directive given by Lula to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, still in the first half of December, when he was invited to head the Itamaraty. “Rebuild bridges”, asked the PT to the future minister at the time.

The priority would be South America, territory of influence closest to Brazil, expanding to Latin America. Next, the PT member called for attention from global powers and Africa, the continent to which Lula paid special attention in his first terms.

So far, the petista has been to the United States, Argentina and Uruguay.
