Abu Dhabi: A new solar park will be built at Abu Dhabi’s Tawasun Industrial Park (TIP) in conjunction with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability. Officials said that the construction contract in this regard has been signed. Engineer Faiz Saleh Al Nahdi, CEO and Managing Director of TIP, the industrial arm of Tawasun Council, and CEO of Dubai-based Yellow Door Energy. The contract was signed by Jeremy Crain.

A total of more than 7600 solar panels will be installed in the solar park with a capacity of 4382 KW. The first phase of construction will begin in the second quarter of this year. The agreement is to make the park fully operational by the end of the year. It is estimated that 71 lakh kilowatts of clean energy can be produced through the solar park in the first year. The new solar park will also help reduce carbon emissions by 5000 metric tons.

Tawasun Council CEO and TIP said that the new agreement is part of supporting the process of increasing renewable energy production in the country. Chairman Sharif Hashim Al Hashimi said. Al Nahdi also commented that the new park will be crucial for increasing energy security.
