Le Châtelet-en-Brie: two men arrested while siphoning a truck

During the night from Friday to Saturday, two individuals were caught siphoning the tank of a truck in an industrial area of ​​Le Châtelet-en-Brie (Seine-et-Marne). When two gendarmes from Melun’s company arrive on the scene, one of them tries to shake them off. Without success. The two men were arrested and taken into custody for “attempted robbery in a meeting”.

It is around 2:40 a.m. when the gendarmes go to the scene on the night of Friday to Saturday. They then surprise a 24-year-old young man holding a hose that sucks the contents of a truck’s tank. At the sight of the police, the latter flees by running towards a vehicle parked higher. This is where his accomplice, a 45-year-old man, is waiting for him.

They are subject to an obligation to leave French territory

The gendarmes manage to arrest the individuals with reinforcements from judicial police officers. Both were taken into custody. They will be summoned to court for “attempted robbery in a meeting”. Four soldiers from the Le Châtelet-en-Brie brigade handled the investigation as well as the administrative situation of the two persons concerned. In an irregular situation, the latter are subject to an Obligation to leave French territory (OQTF).

“Often they put gasoline in a jerry can to fill their own vehicle with it. At the moment, there are not a lot of flights of this type. Usually, it is more frequent in other areas, especially heavy goods vehicle parking lots along the national roads. But it is rare in this place, ”comments a source familiar with the matter.
