Tamil News | Christian Calendar Controversy; Is the PC and AD method correct?

Calendars are of many types in different religions of the world. There are various calendars like Gregorian Calendar for Christians, Islamic Lunar Calendar, Jewish Calendar, Chinese Calendar, Vakya and Trikanith Panchangam for Hindus, Tamil Calendar.

We are currently using the Christian calendar in our homes so that the whole world can use the same calendar. The years before the birth of Christ are called ‘Fifor Christ’ -abbreviated BC, and the years after the birth of Christ are called ‘Anno Domini’ -abbreviated AD (Year of the Lord) in Latin. Christians and religious preachers believe that 2023 years have passed since the birth of the Lord.

But world scientists from different religions do not want to use one religion’s calendar code in scientific books. So they decided to use secular codes instead of PC and AD. For this BC (BC) – BCE (BCE). It means ‘Before Common Era’. AD became CE. It means ‘Common Era’. This is why we can see symbols like 657 CE, 500 BCE in some scientific websites and journals.
