In the series of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria at the beginning of February 2023, more than 50 thousand people were killed and another 120 thousand were injured. In the first days there were quite a few amazing stories of survivors who managed to get out of the ruins in both countries, including many miracle stories. There is one story from the last few days that stands out above all.
As soon as the body was brought on the funeral procession it began to move
According to reports in the Syrian media, Ahmed al-Maghribi was rescued from under the ruins of a building that collapsed in the devastating earthquake in the town of al-Atrib in a country that shares a border with Turkey. Ahmed was rescued from the rubble and did not respond to the calls of the medical personnel, who removed his body and transferred it to a cold room, where it remained for two days, until his family came to identify him.
In Syria it was said that a few hours after the family confirmed Ahmed’s identity, he was placed in a body bag as usual and moved to a local cemetery. As in a horror movie, as soon as his body was brought to the funeral procession, it began to move and that’s how they realized that the body was not a body, Ahmed Hai.
Ahmed was admitted to the hospital, where he is recuperating and recovering these days. There are many conjectures surrounding the story in Syria, one of those conjectures talks about the possibility that al-Maghribi’s heart started beating again after it stopped, but it is not yet understood how his death was determined.
