Manikandan (age 33) hails from Kovilmedu area near Adyarpalayam, Coimbatore. He has 2 sisters Thangamari and Selvi. Both are married. Manikandan, who is a woodworker, has been living in Kovilmedu area with his mother.
In this situation, on the 21st, Thangamari was beaten by her husband Ayyappan due to a family dispute. It seems that Thangamari told this to her mother. Knowing this, Manikandan went to Thangamari’s house drunk on 23rd and scolded Ayyappan with inappropriate words.
Following this, Thangamari asked his brother Manikandan to go home not to come and talk drunk. But as she continued to make noise, Thangamari informed her other sister’s husband, Balasubramaniam.

And his wife Selvi urged Balasubramaniam to go in person to control Manikandan. Balasubramaniam asked if his wife was scared because he refused. Keeping this in mind, Balasubramaniam went straight to Manikandan’s residence early yesterday morning under the influence of alcohol and had an argument with him. He also stabbed Manikandan with an iron rod at various places on his body and then hid himself near the bridge.
Then his wife called Selvi and said, ‘Go see if your brother is there or dead’ and hung up. Periyanayakanpalayam DSP Namachivayam, Dudiyalur Inspector Gnanasekaran and the police rushed to the spot and seized Manikandan’s body, who died on the spot and sent it to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem. Following this, Balasubramaniam, who was absconding, was arrested.
