Shavendra Silva for dereliction of duty – C.I.T. Call for investigation..!

It has been mentioned in the investigation report related to the riot that Shavendra Silva, who was acting as the Army Commander and Acting Chief of Defense Forces at that time, did not take any action to control the riot that took place in the country on May 9, 2022.

The then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had appointed a three-member committee headed by former Navy Commander Vasantha Karanagoda to investigate the riots.

The committee has completed its investigations and has now issued a report. The above point is indicated in the report itself.

CIT Investigation

The statement further stated that General Shavendra Silva did not issue orders to the concerned authorities to use the facilities like Special Action Force, Anti-riot unit of the army which can be called in case of emergency, telephone and security vehicles even inside the camp.

Due to this, CIT related to Savendra. The committee has recommended an inquiry.

This report has been handed over to President Ranil Wickramasinghe. The budding party ministers have requested the President to reveal this in Parliament.

115 budding party ministers have also sent a letter to the President.
