Volodymyr Zelensky hails Ukrainian ‘true heroes’ resisting Bakhmout

  • Volodymyr Zelensky lamented an “increasingly complicated situation” in Bakhmout. Since the summer, troops from Moscow have been trying to take this city in the Donetsk region, of disputed strategic importance but which has become a symbol of the struggle for control of Donbass, in eastern Ukraine. The boss of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, Yevgueni Prigojine, claimed responsibility on Saturday for the capture by his men of the village of Iahidne, located on the northern outskirts of Bakhmout.
