Paris 2024: here are the three buildings reserved for the Blues in the Olympic village

by time news

It is in Zone E of the Olympic Village that the French will stay during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Under construction, the village is currently divided into four sectors, depending on the different promoters: the Fluvial eco-district on Île-Saint-Denis, Universeine to the north, along the A86, the Quinconces in Saint-Denis and the Belvederes at Saint-Ouen.

It is on this southern part of the village that three buildings of 9 and 10 floors have, for the moment, been reserved in order to house the 550 athletes who will make up the tricolor delegation. Currently, it is planned that all the buildings will be occupied only by the French, but if the group were to reduce, other nations could settle.

Some tricolor athletes have already chosen to stay elsewhere. This is the case, for example, for rowers, céists, kayakers and cyclists who will be in the organization’s hotels located near their competition area, in Vaires-sur-Marne and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. .

Far from the canteen, but close to the coaches

Others have made the choice of isolation, like the basketball players, who had for a time considered sleeping in the hotel where they have their habits, in the Bercy district (Paris XII).

The establishment being however occupied by the referees of Fiba, the basketball players will finally stay at Insep, which has provided some facilities to accommodate them. The basketball players should be in the village, at least during the second week, the preliminary phases of basketball taking place in Lille.

In the village, the apartments chosen by the tricolor management for the period of the Olympic Games will also be those of the Paralympic athletes. They will be specially fitted out so that the French will feel at home there.

The Blues will not be in the immediate vicinity of the catering area, located on the Cité du Cinéma site, nor of the training sites, set up in the cinema studios. On the other hand, they will be close to the operational areas, in particular the bus station which leads to the competition sites, and especially the Marcel-Cachin high school in Saint-Ouen.

This establishment, located outside the security perimeter, has been pre-empted by the National Sports Agency and will, after agreement with the Ile-de-France region, be transformed into a House of Performance. This is where French athletes can find, in a quieter area than the village, their coaches, accredited or non-accredited (those who do not have access to the village in particular), doctors and psychologists.

The idea of this Maison de la performance was born before the Tokyo Games but could not be implemented due to the Covid. This time the project takes on a completely different dimension with a huge building, very easy to access from the place of residence of the Blues and whose objective is to do everything possible so that the athletes perform well during the Games in residence.
