Retirement at 1200 euros: Olivier Dussopt admits that 20,000 retirees, at best, will be able to benefit from it

Olivier Dussopt will at least have the answer for the senators. In a letter dated February 23, and published this Tuesday by the socialist deputy of Essonne Jérôme Guedj, the Minister of Labor notes that “between 10,000 and 20,000 people will cross the threshold of 1,200 euros” within the framework of the revaluation of retirement pensions provided for in the government’s pension reform project. During the debate, Olivier Dussopt had previously indicated that 40,000 people would benefit.

“When I am told how many thanks to this reform will pass the 85% mark of the minimum wage? We have a forecast, it happened to me last night: 40,000 more people each year”, had indicated on France inter the Minister of Labor, Olivier Dussopt, questioned on this famous revaluation of pensions to a minimum of 1200 euros in the case of a full career.

The Minister of Labor had been questioned several times on the subject during the debate in the National Assembly, the deputies asking how many people the measure would concern. The subject had been all the more controversial since, behind this “minimum pension”, many had thought that it would concern all retirees. “We have 800,000 retirements every year. In total, 200,000 of them, or one in four retirees, will have a pension upgraded with this reform. Some will go up to 1200 euros, but not all. The revaluation will go from 25, 30 up to 100 euros and it will be calculated on a pro rata basis according to the complete career or not ”, had finally admitted Olivier Dussopt.

A visit to social security

Deputy Jérôme Guedj then questioned the figure of 40,000 put forward by Olivier Dussopt. Until leading a visit to the headquarters of Social Security in his capacity as co-president of the Mission for the evaluation of Social Security accounts. The deputy had affirmed that the Sécu had not been able to define where the figure of 40,000 retirees came from, estimating that only 13,300 new retirees will actually benefit from a pension at 1,200 euros, that is to say say 1.7% of retirees. “I can say now that the Minister (work) lies “, had castigated the deputy of Essonne. “I said on a radio, that in 2030, 40,000 additional retirees will reach 1,200 euros and I maintain it”, replied Olivier Dussopt, in the hemicycle.

In this letter, in response to a precedent sent by Jérôme Guedj, Olivier Dussopt therefore admits his error. “The services estimate, depending on the generation, that between 10,000 and 20,000 people will cross the threshold of 1,200 euros by this measure alone”, writes the Minister of Labor, referring to a “additional costing” by the Directorate of Social Security. .

“How many retirees will receive the promised minimum 1200 euros? On January 10, Borne announced 2 million. On February 18, Dussopt announced 40,000. Today, there would only be 10 to 20,000…” reacted on Twitter the LFI deputy for Val-de-Marne, Clémence Guette. “The government and the minister are lying to the French with figures that change from day to day,” wrote the socialist leader in the National Assembly, Boris Vallaud. And to add: “It is high time to withdraw this pension reform. »
