Spaniard Rafael Nadal, injured in the left leg since the Australian Open, has withdrawn from the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells (California) which begins in a week, the tournament announced on Tuesday.

Rafael Nadal was awaiting the results of the exams to take stock of his injury at the Australian Open. And unfortunately for him, the news is not good and he is therefore forfeited for the next Indian Wells tournament. “The three-time tournament champion withdrew from the 2023 edition due to injury“, writes the Californian tournament on Twitter.

Current world No.8, Nadal had estimated his absence at six to eight weeks the day after his elimination in the second round of the Australian Open in mid-January. He reached the final in Indian Wells a year ago. He could try to be present at the Masters 1000 in Miami unless he waits for the return to clay to reappear on the courts.
