Coimbatore: There has been a complaint that due to a mistake in appointing a ‘scribe’ for visually impaired candidates in the Group – 2 main examination, they had difficulty in writing the examination.

On behalf of TNPSC, Group-2, 2A main examinations were conducted for 5,446 vacancies. There are complaints that the examinations have started late in many places and OMR and answer sheets have been changed.

In this case, various irregularities have been reported in the appointment of a scribe, an assistant to write the examination for the visually impaired candidates.

In this regard, Sathasivam, coordinator of the National Network for the Blind, said:

Recently, more than 550 visually impaired candidates appeared for this exam. In this, no formal guidance is given to those appointed as scribes.

At Salem Polytechnic College, he wrote the exam in irregular scribe and purple ink. If not written in black ink pen, rate mater. Also, in many centers in Coimbatore, the scrip for writing the exam is not cooperating till the extra time.

A scribe appointed to write the examination in English does not have English language proficiency. He was not able to write the exam within the allotted time as he was told to say English letters for each word.

This is what he said.
