‘Jungle Book’, ‘Lion King’ animator Bernie Mattinson dies

Animator Bernie Mattinson, 87, one of the Disney Company’s longest-serving employees, has died. He has worked as an animator for many films like ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Aladdin’ and ‘The Jungle Book’.

His Disney career began in 1953 when he joined Disney’s mail room after his high school graduation. A few months later, he was transferred to their animation department. By 1955, he was working on animations including Lady and the Tramp.

He was to receive the company’s first 70th service award in June this year. In his final days, Mattinson worked at Disney as a story consultant and advisor.
