For some time now, Prince Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan have been campaigning for issues such as mental health. In the spring it was announced that Harry would work for the US company BetterUp as “Chief Impact Officer”.

He is convinced that “mental fitness” is the key to “calling up potential and opportunities in us that we had no idea that they slumbered in us,” he said on the company website. Now he’s talking about mental health on the job.

When he started at BetterUp, one of the key points was to create awareness for this “mental fitness”, explains Harry in an interview with the magazine “Fast Company”. The pandemic has accelerated many trends in the workplace, one question said. There are more and more people who are suffering from burnout or who are quitting their jobs. But how did Harry adjust his strategy to address such things?

Although it looks like the past few years during the coronavirus pandemic have brought all of this to light, it is actually the case that these problems have been simmering for quite a while. One is only at the beginning of an awakening related to mental health.

“This work has never been more important because people are finally paying attention to it, and a big part of that mission is to create awareness and continue pioneering this conversation,” Harry said.

He himself recently found out that resignations are not necessarily bad. “In fact, it’s a sign that knowing yourself comes with the need for change,” says the Royal. “Lots of people around the world have been stuck in jobs that didn’t bring them joy – and now they put their mental health and happiness first. This is something that should be celebrated.”
