In a contempt of court case filed by lawyer Thirumurugan from Ramanathapuram area in the Madurai branch of the High Court, he said, “According to the order of the Tamil Nadu government, in Tamil Nadu all kinds of offices and shops including government offices, private shops, factories, pure Tamil, English, Tamil, in the ratio of 5:3:2 Name boards written in other languages ​​should be placed in front of shops. The Government of Tamil Nadu issued ordinances in 1982 and 1990. The court that requested the implementation of this order should take action against the officials who issued the order but did not implement it,” he said.

The petition came up for hearing in the bench of Justices Jayachandran and Swaminathan. In the reply petition filed by the Tamil Nadu government at that time, a fine of Rs. 50 was charged for not putting up a name board as per the government order. The plan to raise the fine amount is pending approval by the government.

Last 2018-2022 in 6,074 stores Rs. 4.58 lakh as penalty has been collected. According to the Restaurant Act, from 349 restaurants Rs. 32,800 as penalty has been collected. It was said that periodic review meetings are conducted to ensure proper implementation of the law.

Following this, in the order issued by the judges, a fine of Rs 50 has been imposed on those who do not put up name boards in shops and businesses as per government regulations. This is not acceptable. A fine of 50 rupees was imposed when the order came.
