The lawyer, Eduardo Carmigniani, appears on the list that the Prosecutor’s Office presented for the formulation of charges in the Sinohydro case, which involves former President Lenín Moreno for the alleged crime of bribery.
The US embassy revoked the visa to Eduardo Carmigniani Valencia, Lawyer for President Guillermo Lasso, in the Pandora Papers case, for alleged tax evasion in tax havens. Carmigniani is also Danilo Carrera’s defender in the El Gran Padrino case, in which he is implicated as the head of an alleged corruption network within public companies and related to the Albanian mafia, according to La Posta.
The revocation of the visa occurs within the framework of the investigations of the Sinohydro case for the alleged crime of bribery in the amount contracted by the hydroelectric plant of the same name. In this case, the head would be former President Lenín Moreno, who has resided in Paraguay since November 18, 2022, previously living in the United States.
Prosecutor Salazar said that the amount of damage for the alleged crime of bribery is at least USD 76 million. The amount contracted for the Sinohydro hydroelectric plant was USD 1,979 million, but USD 2,245 million ended up being paid.
Reasons for visa revocation
Immigration law protects the US by preventing the entry of people who have violated the terms of their visa to US territory. Only the US government has the authority to revoke visas from your country.

In the list that the Prosecutor’s Office presented for the formulation of charges in the Sinohydro case, the name of Eduardo Carmigniani Valencia appears, along with that of 36 other people. The specific reason why the Prosecutor’s Office linked Carmigniani to the Sinohydro case is still unknown.
On February 22, Radio Pichincha contacted Carmigniani’s office and his assistant to confirm the information and obtain their opinions. A request for information was sent to him via email, which has not been answered.
