Dubai: Change in the weekends of government employees in the UAE. From now on the holidays will be on Saturdays and Sundays. Friday will be a working day until noon.

Hours are Friday from 7.30am to 12pm. The offices will be open Monday through Thursday from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm.

Working days are four and a half days a week. The change will take effect on January 1. Earlier, the holidays were on Fridays and Saturdays.

The UAE will become the first country in the world to reduce the National Working Day to less than five days. Working hours are eight and a half hours on weekdays. Fridays are four and a half hours of working hours.

Under the new policy, employees will be able to choose work-from-home on Fridays. The long weekend is aimed at boosting productivity and improving work-life balance, officials said.
