Udupi–Mookambikai Temple is going to hold the Ashtapanda Kalasa Utsavam after 12 years.

A large number of devotees visit the Kolluar Kamppikai temple near Udupi every day not only from Karnataka but also from outside the state. The Ashta Bandha Brahma Kalasa Utsavam held here is very famous.

But since 2007, the Ashtapanda Brahma Kalasa Utsavam has not been held in this temple. Due to the rivalry between the temple priest and the people’s representatives, this festival is not taking place.

Ashtabandha brahma kalasam means eight types of potions are applied to the pedestal of the deity. This is applied to the pedestal and left to dry for 48 days. But regular pujas and abhishekams will continue. This Kalasa Utsavam has not been held for 12 years.

The reason for the ban all these years is said to be the competition over who should lead the Brahma Kalasa Utsavam.

Now, it has been announced that this Brahma Kalasa Utsavam will be held from April 30 to May 11. 5 crore to be conducted at a cost of Rs.

Since the election code of conduct will be in force on the day of Kalasa Utsavam, this process is expected to be simple.

Regarding this, Baindur Constituency BJP MLA Sukumar Shetty said, “On the day of the Brahma Kalasa Utsavam, the election regulations will come into force, so political leaders can only come and go to Kovi as devotees.

“My desire is to conduct this festival in a critical manner. After consulting the temple committee administrators, it will be decided what to do,” he said.
