New study shows: half of Internet connections cause problems | Life & Knowledge

A representative study on behalf of the price comparison company Verivox shows how bad things are with Germany’s Internet supply. Almost half of all users (45 percent) report that they have problems with their Internet connection.

Around 40 percent complain that the speed is too low, 20 percent have recurring failures and line faults, and five percent are practically constantly struggling with connection problems. Only seven percent of those questioned stated that they were completely satisfied with their Internet connection.

What to do?

According to the survey, most complaints land directly with the operator of the connection. Very few of the users turn to higher-level authorities such as the Federal Network Agency. Also exciting: only nine percent of those surveyed stated that they had already changed providers because of poor Internet services.

But there is also good news in all of that frustration. With the amendment to the Telecommunications Act on December 1, 2021, the situation for customers has improved significantly. You can now pay less if the provider does not deliver the promised line speed – and after the agreed minimum contract period, all contracts can be terminated on a monthly basis.
