Sensex falls 501 points

MUMBAI: Indian stock markets closed lower on Thursday. The Sensex was down 501 points (0.84 per cent) at 58,909. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty was down 129 points (0.85 per cent) at 17,321.

Stock markets started trading flat on Thursday. Then fell. As of 09:55 am, the Sensex was down 306.62 points at 59,104.46. The Nifty closed down 62.75 points at 17,388.15 on the national bourse.

Indian equities ended today’s trade lower on negative trend in global markets, growth concerns, fears of prolonged FII outflows, drag in IT, banking and auto stocks.

By the end of the trading session, the Sensex was up 501.73 points at 58,909.35. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty fell 129.00 points to 17,321.90.

As for individual stocks, L&T shares were bullish. Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever, State Bank of India, HDFC, Reliance Industries, ITC, Wipro, Tata Steel, Titan Company, Bajaj Finance, Kodak Mahindra, Tata Motors, Nestlé India, Infosys, M&M were the decliners.
