Vietnam refugees want to return home!

20 Sri Lankan refugees stranded in Vietnam after their boat broke down while traveling illegally by sea have expressed their desire to return home.

The Ministry of Human Resources has mentioned that the International Organization for Refugees is providing the necessary financial facilities to send them back to the country.

Currently 152 Sri Lankan refugees are being accommodated in Vietnam.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is taking care of their daily needs.

In this case, the 130 people who did not agree to return to Sri Lanka have requested a solution from the third party countries through the International Organization for Refugees, according to the Ministry of Human Resources.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam is working with UNHCR and IOM on this issue.
