Palladam: Near Palladam, the ESI-controlled area has been crippled by brambles for 35 years.

There is 10 acres of land owned by ESI in Lakshmi Mills area, KNpuram next to Palladam. For the past 35 years, the place has been lying unused and overgrown with brambles.

Residents of the area said:

ESI is located on the Coimbatore-Trichy National Highway. This place, worth crores of rupees, has been lying idle for 35 years. In this useless place, sycamore oak trees have grown like a forest.

Due to this, poisonous animals are multiplying here and it is also becoming a haven for anti-socials. The dispensary is functioning in a rented building at KNpuram when space is available for ESI. Even if the dispensary is not built on the vacant lot, the space can be put to other uses.

Apart from this, there is no benefit in growing sycamore oak trees. Therefore, the district administration should take steps to remove the thornbushes and make the ESI space usable.

Thus, the public said.
