CREED 3. Sylvester Stallone is absent from the third installment of the Adonis Creed-centered franchise, derived from the Rocky movies. For what reasons ?

[Mis à jour le 1er mars 2023 à 11h12] Creed IIIthird film centered on Adonis Creed, was released in theaters this Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Directed by Michael B. Jordan, who also plays the title role, the feature film spin-off from the franchise Rocky does not see Sylvester Stallone returning to play the legendary boxer. The American actor had revealed in a post on Instagram his quarrel with the producer of Rocky, Irwin Winkler, who would refuse to let him have the rights to the character and the franchise. Moreover, he believes with The Hollywood Reporter that the third film “took a direction that is quite different from what I would have done. The philosophy of Irwin Winkler and Michael B. Jordan is different.”

For his part, the director of Creed III appears to be more consensual. “We really wanted to write this story and this universe around the character of Adonis, to allow him to move forward, to emancipate himself”, explained Michael B. Jordan in an interview with IGN. “We have a lot of respect for what Sylvester Stallone is building, he added. Now we want to highlight Adonis and his family”. That doesn’t mean Sylvester Stallone is totally done with Rocky Balboa, though. He is currently writing the screenplay for a television series, which focuses on the youth of the boxer he played in the cinema, in the 1960s.

Synopsis – Boxing champion, Adonis Creed is challenged by his childhood friend, Damian, recently released from prison and also a boxing prodigy. He is determined to destroy Adonis.
