In Russia, it is necessary to apply additional compensations to pensioners in 2022 if inflation exceeds the established indexation level. This was announced on Tuesday, December 7, by the head of the Ministry of Labor Anton Kotyakov during the government hour in the State Duma.

According to him, the department has prepared relevant proposals on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“In the near future, I hope, an appropriate decision will be made,” Kotyakov said.

The minister recalled that the indexation of pensions in 2022 is set at 5.9%.

As Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, told Izvestia, commenting on the Labor Ministry’s submission of proposals for additional compensation, we are talking about both lump-sum payments aimed at supporting Russian pensioners, and other measures aimed at achieving the objectives set before the Cabinet of Ministers by the head of state.

“I think that they will all be fulfilled,” the parliamentarian said.

In mid-November, the head of the Central Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina announced that food inflation had already become double-digit, Gazeta.Ru notes. She noted the need to reduce inflation in the near future. Otherwise, the most vulnerable groups of the population will suffer, the head of the regulator emphasized.

The rise in food prices, she said, was influenced by several factors at once, including a not very good harvest, an increase in global prices, and a rise in the cost of labor in agriculture.

In November, Putin said that the rate of indexation of pensions in 2022 will again be higher than inflation, and concrete proposals on this score are already being prepared in the government.
