Ellerman City Liners launches new service between Bilbao and the United States

The maritime operator Ellerman City Liners has launched this week a new service, consigned by Marítima Dávila, which links the Port of Bilbao (Spain) with the east coast of the United States. It is a weekly connection, which works thanks to container ships with a capacity of more than 3,000 TEUs.

In fact, the ship ‘Bux Favourite’ has been the first to operate this new rotation and will carry out an operation of 171 movements between loading and unloading at the CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal.

The route is completed in a transit time of fifteen days for the import process and 18 days for export on the routes between Bilbao and New York, with a rotation linking Bilbao, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Tilbury, New York, Wilmington and Jacksonville, before returning to the Biscayan enclave. Thanks to this new service, Ellerman City Liners reinforces its commitment to the Bilbao enclave and complies with its corporate strategy in the area.

On the other hand, the Port of Bilbao has been selected by the operator Norwegian Cruise Line as the new base for connections with continental destinations departing from Spain. The shipping company has assigned the Gem, a Jewel class cruise ship built by the German shipyard Meyer Werft and authorized in June 2006, to cover the new routes.

The Norwegian company’s ship will offer a route that will cover a good part of Western Europe and another through the Mediterranean. The first route will have Amsterdam as its destination and, on its itinerary, it will pass through Lisbon or La Coruña.
