Dinesh Karthik has commented on the inclusion of Rahane and Pujara in the series against South Africa.
The two-match Test series between India and New Zealand ended recently. The first Test ended in a draw. India then beat New Zealand by 372 runs in the second Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India won the Test series 1-0.
The Indian team will tour South Africa on the 26th to play 3 Tests and 3 ODIs. Rahane and Pujara’s place in the Indian Test squad for the series is in doubt.
The reason for that was that both of them showed bad play in the Test series against New Zealand which ended in a walkout. Pujara scored 26 in the first innings and 22 in the second innings. Similarly, Rahane scored 35 in the first innings and 4 in the second innings. Following this, Rahane did not play in the second Test due to injury. Meanwhile, Pujara, who played in the 2nd Test, was ducked out in the first innings and scored 47 in the second innings.
Meanwhile, youngsters including Shreyas Iyer and Mayang Agarwal are showing excellent play. So will veterans Rahane and Pujara get a chance in the Test series against South Africa? Suspicion has arisen.
Commenting on this, Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik said, “I know Rahul Dravid as the coach of the Indian team. For me Rahane and Pujara will definitely get a chance to play in the Test series against South Africa. Both have shown excellent play in a number of embarrassing matches. But if there is a problem with their bang order, Dravid will think of changing it, ‘said Dinesh Karthik.
