Al-Sunni: Libyans are at the mercy of international players, and Batelli’s proposal is subject to the conditions for candidacy

Libya’s representative to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, said that the Libyans are still at the mercy of regional and international players with their different opinions on how to deal with the Libyan file, and the country is an arena for international conflict.

Al-Sunni pointed out in his interview that Libya cannot be separated from its geopolitical surroundings and the regional challenges that are taking place everywhere, adding that the warring factions in the country have come to represent the interests of their foreign supporters, which has led to more conflict.

He continued, “No single group has the ability to impose order on the entire country, hence the long-standing stalemate is the master of the situation.”

Al-Sunni indicated that it was supposed to support an interim government that could organize and hold elections on an acceptable constitutional basis, but this did not happen because foreign countries with conflicting interests have interfered in the Libyan affairs.

He said, “Libya’s representative to the United Nations, that the success of the plan of the UN envoy, Abdullah Batili, depends on the criteria for selecting candidates for the presidential elections.
