A few days ago, ‘videos’ surfaced in Coimbatore and Tirupur where Bihar state workers were attacked and chased away. While DGP Sailendrababu denied that they were fake, he ordered all the SP-Commissioners to provide protection to the workers in the northern states of Tamil Nadu.
Accordingly, monitoring and security have been strengthened in the areas where most workers live and work in the northern state. In this situation, the police have started a station-wise survey of the workers working under the control of factories and construction contractors in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Namakkal and Karur. .
Not only the station police but also intelligence agencies including the ‘Q’ division have stepped in. The police have taken copies of Aadhaar, voter card etc. of the northern state workers and have started maintaining them as documents.
