The amount of alcohol produced in Latvia in 2022 decreased by 42% compared to 2021, according to the excise goods circulation indicators compiled by the State Revenue Service (SRS).

In general, alcohol was produced in Latvia last year in the absolute volume of 4.356 million liters of alcohol, which is 3.155 million liters less than in 2021.
Among them, the amount of ethyl alcohol produced last year was 4.356 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 42% less than in 2021. On the other hand, dehydrated alcohol was not produced in Latvia last year.
Last year, the amount of ethyl alcohol imported into Latvia was 20.391 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 75.1% more than in 2021.
Last year, the amount of ethyl alcohol sold in Latvia decreased by 10%, or by 0.306 million liters of absolute alcohol – in 2022, 2.75 million liters of absolute alcohol were sold, and in 2021 – 3.056 million liters of absolute alcohol.
Last year, the amount of ethyl alcohol used in the production of alcoholic beverages was 17.113 million liters of absolute alcohol, which is 22% more than the amount used in 2021 – 14.028 million liters of absolute alcohol.
On the other hand, last year ethyl alcohol in the amount of 4.83 million liters of absolute alcohol, or 10.2% more than in 2021, was imported and exported to other member states of the European Union.
It has already been reported that in 2021 alcohol was produced in Latvia in the absolute volume of 7.511 million liters of alcohol, which is 79,590 liters more than in 2020.
