Tamil News | Conversion of rain water canal to road

by time news
Kanchipuram: The rain water canal running from a part of Budheri Vegavathy river next to Kanchipuram to Kanchipuram Pilliyarpalayam Tathimedu area has been an irrigation canal for 10 years. The agricultural lands along the route of the canal are now being converted into residential plots.

The rain water channel that passed through it was completely closed and converted into a road to facilitate the road to the new city area.

The district administration and public works department and the municipality have not taken action in this regard.

Generally, if new housing units are constructed, a separate road facility should be provided for it.

The canal in that area has been closed and the road facility has created a stir.

The people of the area said:

The rainwater canal is still intact up to Putheri Panchayat area. The canal leading from the Ellamman temple area to where the Kanchipuram Corporation limits start has been closed.

During the heavy rains last three months ago, the water that passed through the canal had no way to go and entered the residential areas through the upper street of the Kailasa Nath temple.

In future, the canal will facilitate the flow of rainwater. From Ellamman Temple, it goes through Tathimedu via Krishna Street and joins the Yellow Water Canal. Now the location of the canal is not known.

Thus they said.
