Almost two years after the famous shipping accident of theEver Given in the Suez Canal, and the legal negotiations have not yet ended. These days, a court in London is discussing a lawsuit by SMIT, a salvage company belonging to Royal Boscalis Westminster. The salvage company claims that the Japanese owner of the giant container ship, Shoei Kisen Kaishastill owes her many millions for her part in freeing the giant container ship that ran aground across the Egyptian waterway in March 2021.

The lawyers of the Japanese owners claim that the Suez Canal Authority was the one behind most of the work to release the 400 m long ship. the owner of theEver Given Had to pay the Suez Canal Authority many millions of dollars to free the ship from the Egyptian authorities, months after it was flooded again.

Maersk is also suing the Japanese owner of the ship. The Danish shipping company claims that it suffered damage from delays as a result of the canal blocking incident and is demanding a total of about 40 million dollars in damages.
