Thus, Mesías Ugsiña, representative of the National Artisanal Agricultural and Fisheries Union for Food Security and Sovereignty of Ecuador, indicated: “with the call of the Conaie and other trade union organizations, we have talked with the Minister of Government that if not they solve our problems about the fair price for agricultural products from all regions, immediate control of the excessive prices of agricultural inputs, technical assistance, credit, irrigation and support for the rural sector; so, if there is no positive response, unfortunately, we have to join the other organizations and go out to protest, to the mobilizations that the Conaie has raised to commemorate International Women’s Day, but, regarding a national strike, it is in analysis and discussion, regardless of the political issues that pass in the National Assembly”.
