Ombudsman highlights cooperation with Cape Verde

News from Angola- The Angolan ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, stressed this Friday, in Luanda, the importance of cooperation with the Ombudsman of Cape Verde, especially in the materialization and implementation of the agreements signed on September 07, 2021 .

The information was advanced by the Angolan ombudsman during the audience granted to the ambassador of Cape Verde in Angola, Jorge Eduardo de Figueiredo, who is at the end of his mission.

According to the press document that Notícias de Angola had access to, the document states that in 2021, an agreement was signed in the field of sharing experiences and good practices, procedures, intervention strategies, as well as facilitating access for each citizen of Angola and Cape Verde to submit complaints to the Ombudsmen of both countries.

The report points out, on the other hand, about the violation, the importance of its Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees by public entities.

According to the Cape Verdean diplomat who carried out his mission to Angola for six years, he highlighted the good relations and ties of friendship existing between the Embassy of Cape Verde and the Ombudsman, within the scope of the signed agreements, carrying with him good memories of the Institution.

Speaking to the press, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cape Verde underlined that the work of the Ombudsman has shown visible results, and hoped that in the term of office of the next Ambassador of Cape Verde accredited in Angola, this strategic partnership will be increasingly deepened.

With regard to this criterion, Florbela Araújo reinforced her commitment to the Embassy of Cape Verde in raising the awareness of the competent authorities for the defense of the rights, freedoms and guarantees of the citizens of these two sister peoples who maintain strong ties of cooperation.

The Ombudsman of Angola and the Ombudsman of Cape Verde work closely with the Network of Ombudsmen of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), of which the Ombudsman of the Republic of Angola has chaired since the April 19, 2022.

United by language, Angola and Cape Verde, achieved their independence in 1975, having established diplomatic relations two years later, on August 30, 1977.
