Strike of March 7: Beaune predicts “one of the most difficult days we have known”

by time news

Will the unions put the country “on hold” on Tuesday? “There will be very strong impacts in transport, a very great difficulty, repeated the Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, this Sunday noon on France 3. We know that there will be little public transport, it’s true in Île-de-France, but everywhere else. »

The Minister of Transport predicts “one of the most difficult days we have known”. In particular on the rail network, because the SNCF unions have announced a renewable strike. There, “things will probably not stop on March 7 in the evening or March 8 in the early morning”, according to him. This is why the government is planning negotiations with the railway workers: “We are going to discuss working conditions, wages, because there is a much broader malaise than the pension reform. »

Reassuring about road blockages

Asked about the arduous work of railway workers, Clément Beaune kicked into touch. “There are cases where the railway workers do hard work, where it is more difficult for those who have a difficult family situation. In a legal sense, it is a very complex device. These are not easy trades, but one must have equity. That’s why we defend the abolition of special diets, with a balance, respecting the social contract we made in the past. »

Concerning roadblocks, the minister assures: “I negotiated a lot, again yesterday with the road transport unions. They are extremely responsible, I do not believe that we will be in an irresponsible, blocking movement. They never stopped transporting fuel,” he says, referring to the fuel crisis.
