The National Congress of Honduras approved in December the Law for the prevention, care and protection of internally displaced persons. In this country, more than 247,000 people have been internally displaced by violence. This law, which responds to the recommendations of international and human rights and humanitarian organizations, including the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), establishes a basis for providing structurally the humanitarian consequences of displacement.
